Zigong Jiucai Culture And Art Co., Ltd. has been recognized as one of the Outstanding Overseas Exhibition Projects of the 2023 Zigong Lantern Industry.
This industry recognition highlights Jiucai Culture's capabilities in custom lantern design, large-scale lantern festival production, project execution, and cultural event delivery. The award-winning project was the 2023 Spring Festival Lantern Festival at Nanshan Park in Yantai, China, a large-scale cultural lighting event that combined traditional Chinese lantern craftsmanship with Yantai's local culture, tourism resources, and urban identity.
For Jiucai Culture, this recognition represents more than an industry award. It reflects our long-term commitment to craftsmanship, creative design, engineering quality, and reliable project delivery—capabilities that we continue to bring to lantern festivals, theme parks, zoos, cultural destinations, city events, and tourism attractions worldwide.

2023 Yantai Nanshan Park Spring Festival Lantern Festival
Dragon Lanterns, Coastal Culture and the Energy of Yantai
Themed “Welcoming the Year of the Dragon with Lanterns Illuminating Yantai,” the lantern festival was designed around the existing landscape and visitor routes of Nanshan Park.
Rather than treating the lanterns as isolated decorative installations, the project integrated illuminated artworks into the park's main circulation routes, creating a continuous nighttime experience for visitors.
The exhibition was organized into three major themed zones:
- Dragon Dance & Spring Celebration
- Fairyland & the Beauty of Yantai
- Waves, Coastline & the Spirit of Yantai
The project featured 4 large-scale lantern installations and 41 medium-sized lantern groups, together with additional lighting decorations for surrounding trees, lawns, and landscape areas.
The overall visitor route extended approximately 2,000 meters, transforming the park into an immersive nighttime cultural attraction.
Designing Lanterns Around Local Culture
For this project, Jiucai Culture's design team conducted detailed research into Yantai's coastal landscape, ecological culture, local history, and tourism identity.
These regional elements were combined with traditional Chinese New Year themes, the Year of the Dragon, and elements inspired by Chinese mythology to create a distinctive visual language for the exhibition.

The objective was not simply to produce colorful lanterns, but to develop an integrated experience that connected traditional lantern craftsmanship with local cultural storytelling.
This approach is particularly important for large-scale cultural tourism projects, where clients need lantern installations to complement the destination rather than appear as generic temporary decorations.
From Lantern Manufacturing to Turnkey Project Delivery
A successful lantern festival requires much more than attractive designs.
For large outdoor projects, overseas buyers and event organizers typically need a supplier capable of managing multiple stages of the project—from initial concept development to manufacturing, logistics, installation, and final commissioning.
Jiucai Culture provides an integrated project workflow covering:
- Concept & Creative Design → 3D Visualization → Structural Engineering → Lantern Manufacturing → Quality Inspection → Export Packaging → International Logistics → On-Site Installation & Commissioning
Our production combines traditional silk lantern craftsmanship, steel-frame engineering, LED lighting technology, and modern manufacturing processes to create large-scale illuminated installations suitable for indoor and outdoor environments.
For international projects, our experience with export packaging, transportation, site installation, and project coordination also helps reduce the complexity commonly associated with importing large custom lantern displays from China.
A Successful Large-Scale Nighttime Tourism Project
The Yantai Nanshan Park Lantern Festival ran for 42 days.
During the Chinese New Year holiday period from February 2 to February 13, the event welcomed more than 600,000 visitors, while the instantaneous maximum visitor capacity within the lantern exhibition area reached approximately 20,000 people.
The project demonstrated how a well-planned lantern festival can become more than a seasonal lighting display.
By combining:
- Traditional Chinese lantern culture
- Local tourism resources
- Nighttime entertainment
- Cultural experiences
- Food and retail
- Check-in attractions
- Festival performances
the event helped create a vibrant nighttime destination and provided visitors with a diverse cultural and recreational experience.
For destination owners, municipalities, tourism operators, and event organizers, this type of integrated approach can turn a seasonal lantern exhibition into a broader nighttime tourism and cultural attraction.
